Google Plans to Bring AI Agents Into Search, Enabling Bookings, Purchases and More

Sometimes, when I look at how quickly technology is changing, I just think, wow, how far have we come!

I still remember being a school student when smartphones and the internet were not part of everyday life in the way they are today. Back then, even having access to information felt exciting. Today, we have reached a point where we can search for almost anything, ask questions, compare options, and get answers within seconds.

And now, things are moving one step further.

As an Artificial Intelligence Student and I work in the marketing environment. These developments naturally excite me. I enjoy learning how artificial intelligence changes the way people search interact with technology and make decisions.

One development that particularly caught my attention is Google’s move towards Agentic AI experiences in Search.

Imagine asking Google to find a restaurant and help you book a table schedule an appointment fill out a form or even make a purchase. Of simply showing you links and leaving you to handle every step AI could help you complete the task.

Honestly that is a shift to watch.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted this direction during Alphabet’s Q3 2026 earnings

Google CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted this direction during Alphabet’s Q3 2026 earnings call on October 28 2026. He discussed Google’s plans to bring experiences into Search and Gemini helping people do more than simply find information.

What Makes Google's Agentic AI Experience Interesting?

When I think about Google Search, I remember how I used it during my years. Whenever I had homework, I would search on Google to find answers. I also used it to check which dresses were trending, discover places and find information about things I was curious about.

At that time Google Search was mainly about finding information. We had to open websites read through the details compare things and decide for ourselves. There was no AI Mode to have a conversation with Google get answers or generate images based on our ideas.

Look at how things have changed now! With AI Mode we can ask questions in a natural way explore ideas, compare options and even generate images. People are already using AI to learn; plan choose products and make decisions.

Honestly when I see these changes I feel excited. I think about how useful these features would have been during my years. Imagine getting help with homework understanding a topic or exploring an idea simply by asking Google.

Now Google is planning to take this experience further with agentic AI.

AI agents help to booking a table scheduling an appointment filling out a form or making a purchase in future

Until now AI has been helping us find answers and explore options. In the future AI agents could help us take the steps like booking a table scheduling an appointment filling out a form or making a purchase.

For example:

1. Booking Restaurant Reservations

Imagine asking Google to find a restaurant for dinner and help you book a table. Then checking multiple websites yourself an AI agent could assist with finding options and completing the reservation process.

2. Scheduling Appointments

Need to schedule an appointment? AI could help find a service understand your requirements and assist with arranging a convenient time.

3. Filling Out Online Forms

forms can sometimes be time-consuming. Agentic AI could help users understand the information and complete the necessary fields.

4. Making Purchases

Shopping could also become more conversational. Of simply searching for products users could explain what they need and receive help exploring options and moving towards a purchase.

These are the kinds of experiences Google is exploring as it brings capabilities into its products.

For me this is a change. Of doing everything step by step we may soon be able to tell AI what we need and let it help us get it done.

I am curious to see how this will change the way we use Google Search in the coming years.

Why Does This Matter for SEO and Digital Marketing?

As someone who works in marketing, I find this development interesting because it makes sense in terms of how much our work could change in the coming years.

Here is an area I think businesses and digital marketers should pay attention to.

1. Local SEO could become more important

When I look at businesses, I often notice how much their online information matters. If someone wants to find a restaurant book an appointment or contact a service provider they need details.

Businesses should keep their Google Business Profile updated with the opening hours, contact details, services, menus, photos and booking options. Reviews also matter, so responding to customers and keeping information current should not be ignored. Building local citations also helps improve local visibility.

2. Websites need to be clear, fast, and useful

I feel website quality will continue to play a role. A website should not look good but also help visitors find what they need without confusion.

Businesses must focus on website speed, mobile experience, navigation and functional forms. Pricing, service details, availability and contact information should be easy to locate. I also emphasize content, real experience, expertise and trust signals that support E‑E‑A‑T.

3. We may need to look at conversions differently

In digital marketing we often count website visits, leads, calls, bookings and purchases to gauge performance. If AI agents start helping users finish tasks directly the path customers take to a business could change.

This makes me think that conversion tracking and lead‑generation processes will become more important. We need to understand not how people find a business but also how they take action.

4. Trust and reviews will matter even more

Before choosing a business people often check its reviews and reputation. I believe this will stay important even as AI becomes more involved in search.

Businesses should encourage reviews and respond to feedback from consumers, keep their information accurate and ensure their booking and payment processes are secure.

5. Digital marketing strategies may need to change

I can see this development affecting areas of digital marketing

  • Local businesses – Keep business details, services, opening hours and booking information accurate.
  • SEO professionals – Understand how people ask questions and create content that answers them.
  • PPC advertisers – Watch how AI‑powered search changes the way people discover products and services.
  • Website owners – Focus on speed, mobile usability, clear information and a smooth customer experience.

Of course, these are possible changes, not things that have already happened everywhere. Googles announcement shares its plans, for AI and we will have to see how these experiences develop.

For me this is a reminder that digital marketing never stays the same for long. The way people search keeps changing. We need to keep learning and adapting along with it. As someone who is learning intelligence and working in marketing, I am excited to see where this takes us.
