Google November Update 2011

As Google rolls out the advanced version of caffeine update by November 4th 2011, it is expected to refer  search engine results to hot cookies with the search results supplying hot and instant content related to the search query. Even if you do not mention the date or keywords like “latest”, “instant” etc in the search box, Google's artificial intelligence decides which keyword searches fall into this category and displays results accordingly.

Google November Update.jpegIf I search for [seo news], I expect to find information on the current SEO trends and news, and not the 2005 Search engine news. With Google's recent update, Google Search would be using a freshness algorithm, designed to give you the most up-to-date results, so that even as I type [seo news] without specifying 2012, I still find what I’m looking for.

You might remember that google was showing tweets in the result pages and instant content, which was scrolling on the search results some time ago. For some reasons or the other, they had rolled back the feature and have come up with a refined search result, which is going to prove useful for the searchers, who look for fresh content.

Google engineers opine that “We completed our Caffeine web indexing system last year, which allows us to crawl and index the web for fresh content quickly on an enormous scale. Building upon the momentum from Caffeine, today we’re making a significant improvement to our ranking algorithm that impacts roughly 35 percent of searches and better determines when to give you more up-to-date relevant results for these varying degrees of freshness.”

  • Recent events or hot topics. When you want nothing else but the latest news, trends, happening events or hottest topics on the net, whether it be a tweet, a content, news or video, Google is sure to come up with it on the search results. When you search for current events like [occupy oakland protest], or for the latest news about the [nba lockout], you’ll see more high-quality pages that is as fresh as 'fresh' can get.
  • Regularly recurring events. Some events take place on a regular scale within a time frame or is seasonal and periodic like the Presidential elections, which happens once in 4 years. Without specifying the time frame on your keywords searches, it’s implied that you can expect to see the most recent information on the subject, and not one that is irrelevant or happened years ago. There are also things that recur more frequently, so now when you’re searching for the latest [NFL scores], results or [exxon earnings], you’ll see the latest information.
  • Frequent updates. As users also search for information that change often, but isn’t really a hot topic or a recurring event - for example, if you’re researching on [Directory Submission Service], Google would come up with the latest updates on service providers who have been offering directory submission service, from a long time ago.
